Instagram is an excellent platform for publishing videos to share with your followers and potential clients, customers, and fans. But how long should those videos be? And what kinds of videos can you share on Instagram? In this blog post, we answer all of your questions about Instagram videos.
What are the Different Types of Instagram Videos?
You can share four different types of videos on Instagram: Stories, Feed Videos, Reels, and Live. Let’s take a look at each one.
1) Instagram Stories | Up to 15 Seconds
Instagram Stories are a great way to share your day-to-day life with your followers. Unlike a regular post, which will remain on your profile forever, a Story only lasts 24 hours. You may add photos, videos, text, polls, gifts, and more to your content. Stories can be an excellent way to show off your character and provide your followers a behind-the-scenes look at your life. You may also utilize them for marketing your company or product.
Instagram Stories are a fun and easy way to connect with your followers and give them an insight into your life or business. For example, a fashion-related account may share a photo of them wearing a new outfit and tag the brands they’re wearing. Or a food-related account could share a video of them cooking a new recipe.
2) Instagram Feed Videos | Up to 10 minutes (60 minutes for selected accounts)
Instagram videos appear in a user’s feed alongside photos and other content. They can be uploaded from your phone or created within the Instagram app. Feed videos allow sound to be turned on or off upon posting, and unlike stories, which disappear after 24 hours, feed videos are permanent and are saved to a user’s profile.
Because they’re so visible, feed videos are a great way to grab attention and show your brand personality. They can also be used to promote products, share behind-the-scenes footage, or give fans a peek into your day-to-day life.
3) Instagram Reels | Up to 90 Seconds
Reels are a new way to create and discover short, entertaining videos on Instagram. They are often pushed to accounts beyond just your followers. You can watch Reels in a dedicated space on Instagram or find them in the Feed and Stories.
Simply open the Instagram camera and select the Reels option to create a Reel. From there, you can start filming your video. You can add music from Instagram’s extensive library or use your audio. You can also edit your video with various effects, like speed changes and filters.
Reels are a fun and easy way to add some personality to your feed and get discovered beyond your current audience. Instagram Reels can go as long as 60 seconds, but it’s advisable to keep them between 15-30 seconds.
4) Instagram Live
Instagram Live is a feature that lets users broadcast live videos to their followers. Live broadcasts can be up to four hours long, and followers can receive notifications when someone they follow starts a live video. The video disappears as soon as the broadcast is over, but users have the option to save it to their feed.
Instagram Live is an excellent way to connect with your followers in real time and share what’s happening in your world. You can use it to give a behind-the-scenes look at your work, show off your creative process, or hang out and chat with your friends. It’s also great to build anticipation for upcoming events or product launches. And because the videos disappear after they’re over, there’s no need to worry about them being perfect—just go live and have fun!
